Another Disaster, Another Chance for Some Liberal Scolding!
The libs are walking tall again. Nothing like a horrible disaster to pick up ones spirits! Now they can sanctimoniously and endlessly caw "See! We told you so!"
"Oil is bad!" (as they get into their automobiles)
"Greedy Republicans killed the coal miners!" (As they flip on the light switch)
They rightly shout about the working poor's inability to make a "living wage," but fail to see how illegal immigration takes jobs and drives down wages.
It's a comfy, insular world of fantasy over in left Blogistan, which probably explains their anger at the incursions of truth-bearing conservatives and libertarians. We are not delusional. We know our politicians and our businesses are flawed and untrustworthy. It's human nature.
Particularly delicious is when their fantasy bubble is popped not by some ranting racist hater like Rush Limbaugh, but by their own New York Times, liberal toilet paper of record.
Obama acted too slowly and didn't do his regulatory job.
The federal government also had opportunities to move more quickly, but did not do so while it waited for a resolution to the spreading spill from BP
Some oil industry critics questioned whether the federal government is too reliant on oil companies to manage the response to major spills, leaving the government unable to evaluate if the response is robust enough.Liberal Response? Blame Bush and Cheney, Of Course!
The Bu$hitler-Cheney-Halliburton regime has been out of power for over a year and a half now. How long does it take for an enlightened administration to wipe out those plutocratic, oil-spill loving rules and replace them with kind, gentle, liberal rules that prevent this kind of thing?
The Senile Old Lady also highlights some Unanswered Questions:
The timetable is damning. The blowout occurred on April 20. In short order, fire broke out on the rig, taking 11 lives, the rig collapsed and oil began leaking at a rate of 40,000 gallons a day.
BP tried but failed to plug the well. Even so, BP appears to have remained confident that it could handle the situation with private resources (as did the administration) until Wednesday night, when, at a hastily called news conference, the Coast Guard quintupled its estimate of the leak to 5,000 barrels, or more than 200,000 gallons a day.
Only then did the administration move into high gear.Another president, another disaster visited upon New Orleans...

Yep, But inaction was by design so they could claim what you started with.
thats one stock that if drops at record lows will be a good idea to buy BP PLC. Because I smell Obama 2012 again. Prepare your pockets now.
Oh man that smells worse than a dead skunk in 102 degree weather.
Correct me if I am wrong but the oil disaster happened on April 20, and today is May 3rd? And Obama is barely looking over the situation? And Yahoo news claims he rushed over to see the problem firsthand?
How is this construed as rushing?
Leticia: At least Pravda openly declared they were a state-run outlet
From the post: They rightly shout about the working poor's inability to make a "living wage," but fail to see how illegal immigration takes jobs and drives down wages.
The Fuck we Do! The Reagan Revolution made possible the Corporate Take Over of America which resulted in Businesses exporting manufacturing jobs abroad and importing illegals to undercut American labor at home!
Maybe if you on the Right stood with Unions and not with the Corporate Slavers we'd have Americans working American jobs instead of Plutocratic Control which uses the Government to impoverish American Workers.
Yeah, Gene, that's why the economy and jobs grew so much...
Reagan:
Jan 81 to Dec 88, 16.3 million jobs created (the only reason these numbers aren't much better is that he started in a deep hole due to the Carter disaster)
And President Clinton, a good fiscal conservative with the help of congressional Republicans, was smart enough to continue Reagan's economic policies.
Clinton:
Jan 93 to Dec. 2000, 22.8 million jobs created
George W turned liberal big spender and wrecked it all...
Bring some real facts or drag your lame ass off. Don't stink this place up with your tired, discredited marxist propaganda.
Jimmy Carter created 10.5 Million jobs in half the time after inheriting the War Machines destruction of the American Economy.
And Ford Reagan, HW Bush and W. Bush combined created less jobs during their terms than Clinton did.
And who granted amnesty to the Illegals in 1986? Obama? Bill Ayers? Ronald Chicken Hawk Reagan.
We can see how well the Unions have worked for Ca , NJ and GM.
The government isn't bankrupt because of capitalism they are bankrupt because of government.
Eventually you run out of other people's money.
Yeah, that's why Carter was reelected in a landslide...
If you would read your own source, you would see that Carter's anemic job growth beat only Gerald Ford. Hooray!
I can't believe you're actually defending the worst president ever.
I love it when someone's own source bites them in the ass!
Thanks for the laugh, Gene!
Just another liberal emergency so they can take over the oil industry and stop all offshore drilling. Can't let a good emergency go to waste.
Here's more perspective
They briefly explain the pitfalls of grabbing onto an isolated statistic and staking your whole argument on it.
Carter's job growth is mostly attributed to the tax credits he gave businesses to hire:
From the Wall Street Journal:
"...in 1977 under Jimmy Carter. During the two years it was in effect, a jobs credit worth about $7,000 in today's dollars became a $20 billion free lunch as businesses claimed the handout for one of every three new employees.
In the short term, the Jimmy Carter jobs credit appeared to reduce unemployment. The jobless rate dropped by 1.2 percentage points (to 5.8% in 1979 from 7% in 1977). But that effect was short-lived, and when the subsidies ended two years later the layoffs resumed and the unemployment rate rose again and by 1980 was back to 7.2%."
So what actually have is a cautionary tale about the folly of government intervention in the marketplace.
SF, that's 10.5 TEN AND ONE HALF MILLION, which is more than Bush, Bush, Ford, Nixon.
Silver Fiddle shots and misses Fiddle Loses! Fiddle Loses!
And I didn't defend W...
Wow! What an accomplishment. He also beat them in inflation, interest rates, and international failures.
I knew the rest of my answer would be over your head.
Zero didn't diddle; he waited for the opportunity to take advantage of a crisis.
