Libyan Gut Check

"Gut Check" for Progressives on Libya
George Bush isn't president, so military interventions are back in style with the American left...
Progressives, are you comfortable with using military force — including airstrikes against strategic military targets — in Libya?

There are clear and compelling reasons to use force in this case, in concert with a progressive internationalist worldview, the belief that America can best defend itself by building a world safe for individual liberty and democracy.  The progressive internationalist now has little choice but to act militarily to stop the mass, indiscriminate killing of Libyans who hold those values.  (Gut Check Time for Progressives)
Did progressives just rip a page from the neocon handbook?

And who says these Libyan rebels "hold those values."  What proof do we have that any of these human hornets swarming in the face of creaking kleptocrats are motivated by anything even close to democracy or Western values?

Two cheers for President Obama’s non-intervention in Libya

It was the right thing to do, but he did it badly, and out of a feckless indecisiveness.  The he blew it completely by reversing himself once the opportunity to decapitate the Khadaffi regime had passed.  He was just the man to stand up and tell the European and Arab states to man up and take care of it themselves, we’re tired of fighting their wars for them.

But instead, he dithered in the face of having to do something harder that delivering a flowery speech, dissipating another opportunity and hastening Western entropy.
“The Arabs and the Europeans live there, and if they truly see hell coming, they should act, and they can act.”  --Leslie Gelb
Europeans and Arab states have the ability to take military action on their own.  Leslie Gelb explains:
Doubt not that those pushing for a U.N./U.S. no-fly zone can enforce that goal themselves. Libya has less than 200 usable jet fighters of old vintage, flown by pilots who get less than 90 hours practice time yearly.
Egypt has first-class F-16s that could pulverize any Libyan opposition. Saudi air power is even more formidable. That is to say nothing of the hundreds of top-grade fighters that London and Paris could deploy to bases in Egypt, Tunisia, or Italy. There would be no contest. Those arguing for a no-fly zone don't need a U.S. aircraft carrier.
If the stakes are anywhere near as great as activists claim, they don't need a U.N. Security Council resolution either. Many is the nation that resorted to force without such international blessing.
The hypocrisy here is monumental, even by traditional foreign-policy standards of baloney.  (Leslie Gelb -- Let Libya's Neighbors Fix It)
 * - Since this writing, they did get a security council resolution and the bombing has begun.  We'll see what happens.

Obama's No Lincoln, Plus a Quick Economics Lesson

Hailed as America’s first truly cosmopolitan president, Mr. Obama seems to have learned nothing from his youthful years on the international scene. It's no exaggeration to say that the typical Army Sergeant has more real-life experience than this elitist metrosexual poser.

He’s not like Lincoln because he’s shown no humility...

"I have been driven many times upon my knees by the overwhelming conviction that I had no where else to go. My own wisdom and that of all about me insufficient for that day."
  -- Abraham Lincoln
Lincoln had seen success and failure in his life, and he understood all too well our flawed and fallen nature. He had a deep humility borne of this knowledge.

It is impossible to imagine Obama saying something like that.  Instead, he and his wife lecture us on how stupid we are.  Obama juts his chin in the air and fills it with flowery words that have no basis in real-world experience. He’s an inexperienced, unlearned man, but this does not stop him from loudly calling out enemies and lecturing us on how to eat, how to live, how to sneeze and how to spend our money.

To comprehend economics, avoid Paul Krugman, read Greg Mankiw

Harvard Economics professor Greg Mankiw has a gift for explaining the dismal science. Here he explains how economic transactions in a free market are not a zero sum game, but rather, they are win-win situations:
… let’s start with a basic economic transaction. You have a driveway covered in snow and would be willing to pay $40 to have it shoveled. The boy next door can do it in two hours, or he can spend that time playing on his Xbox, an activity he values at $20. The solution is obvious: You offer him $30 to shovel your drive, and he happily agrees.

The key here is that everyone gains from trade. By buying something for $30 that you value at $40, you get $10 of what economists call “consumer surplus.” Similarly, your young neighbor gets $10 of “producer surplus,” because he earns $30 of income by incurring only $20 of cost. Unlike a sports contest, which by necessity has a winner and a loser, a voluntary economic transaction between consenting consumers and producers typically benefits both parties. (Greg Mankiw - Emerging Markets)
This also explains why trade deficits are not always bad. Think about it: Your household runs a permanent trade deficit with the grocer and the utility company. If they were simply vacuuming money out of your pocket this would be a bad thing, but it is not because you get a product back (food, heat) for the money you hand over. In turn, those products enable you to continue widening the trade surplus with your employer.

Finally, this is why I think, on balance Wikileaks helps more than hurts...

China has us by the balls:
An October 2008 cable, released by WikiLeaks, showed a senior Chinese official linking questions about much-needed Chinese investment to sensitive military sales to Taiwan.
His comments came days after the Pentagon notified Congress it was poised to sell $6.5 billion worth of arms to China's arch rival Taiwan.
The much-delayed package was eventually sold, but did not include requested F-16 jets. (AP - Breitbart)

Mr Obama, You’re No Ronald Reagan

Liberals spewed hatred on Ronald Reagan for thirty years, now they are attempting to co-opt him

I know, the Reagan Centennial was last Sunday, but I’m left with that feeling you get after attending a really good concert. Still basking in the sights and sounds, you’re left wanting more, so you pop in a CD or DVD to make the feeling last.

What spurred me to this latest outburst was all the stupid blather comparing Obama to Reagan. It’s another foolish indulgence of the Washington press corps, for really, there is no comparison.

Ronald Reagan’s communications were symphonic masterpieces...

...crafted and delivered from a deep and thoughtful well of study and experience. His rock solid words now resonate through the ages. “Tear down this wall!” …and the wall came tumbling down.

He backed up his words with action. He told the air traffic controllers to go back to work. They didn’t. He fired them. This put the world on notice that the American president meant what he said. Communists really were trying to make inroads into Central America, and Reagan defeated them by keeping our military profile low and helping freedom-loving Central Americans help themselves. The region in now freer and more prosperous as a result.

Obama’s speeches are cotton candy…

…top 40 bubblegum pop songs that catch the listeners’ ears with a cheap lyrical hook or a catchy tune, but are forgotten the next week. His award of an anticipatory Nobel Prize was a farce, and it was the apotheosis of Obama. All flowery words and billowy hope, but no substance, no action.

Reagan made history by collapsing communism and freeing tens of millions of people.  Obama made history by being the first Nobel Peace Prize winner to host and toast a tyrannical regime that imprisoned a  fellow Nobel Peace Prize winner.

Reagan Encouraged Us, Obama Scolds Us...

Reagan believed in the American people and uplifted us; President Obama is perpetually disappointed in us. He, his wife and his cabinet scold us on eating habits, going green, police who act stupidly, people too cowardly to talk about race, and even how to sneeze properly.

President Reagan shrugged off criticism with a smile and a joke, President Obama encourages his fervid worshipers to punish their enemies.

Reagan believed in American exceptionalism. Obama compared us to Greece, and leads us there with his disastrous policies.

Progressive fanboys and fangirls love talking about how intelligent Obama is, but when pressed they can produce no evidence besides “he ran a successful presidential campaign,” or that he was titular head of some college newspaper.

“Amiable dunce” Ronald Reagan has left a rich legacy of writings in his own hand that prove beyond a doubt what an intelligent and studied man he was.

Barack Obama is no Ronald Reagan...

Comparisons to the loser that Reagan defeated in 1980 are more appropriate. In fact, Jimmy probably rests a little easier knowing he’s now moved up to the second worst president.

Barack Obama actually said this once...

This is an actual quote from President Barack Obama:
But what also made these large deficits possible was the end of a common sense rule called "pay-as-you-go." It's pretty simple. It says to Congress, you have to pay as you go. You can't spend a dollar unless you cut a dollar elsewhere. This is how a responsible family or business manages a budget. And it is how a responsible government manages a budget, as well…. Last night, I signed the "pay-as-you-go" rule into law. Now, Congress will have to pay for what it spends, just like everybody else.

Go-Bama!

Here's some light stuff for a change...
I laughed my head off when I saw the above picture of President Obama.  All he's lacking are pink handlebar streamers and a little ding ding bell...

For commentary on the above picture, go to Who is More Macho? By Tim Kavanaugh.  Kinda vulgar, so if you're easily offended, don't go there.

And now a joke:

Police chiefs often say, "I get irritated when people come down on our police officers, saying that they do not care."

Well, here is a story that shows not all cops are in that category.

The Cherokee County Sheriff Department reported finding a man's body last Saturday in the Spring River near the Empire Electric Plant. The dead man's name would not be released until his family had been notified.

The victim apparently drowned due to excessive beer consumption while visiting "someone" in nearby Riverton, KS.

He was wearing black fishnet stockings, a red garter belt, a pink G-string, purple lipstick, and an Obama T-shirt.

The police removed the Obama T-shirt to spare his family any unnecessary embarrassment.

Proof that some police really do care.

Obamanomics

Peter Ferrara has done America a great service by writing his brilliant piece, The Green Pied Piper from Chicago.  This is the definitive Obamanomics critique to date.  Here are a few jewels I've plucked from the article...
For the record, President Obama's budget projected a deficit of $1.6 trillion for this year, after a deficit of $1.4 trillion last year, while the deficit in Bush's last year totaled $459 billion. If President Obama didn't want his soaring, record shattering deficits, he should not have increased federal spending by 25%, and federal welfare spending by one-third, in just his first two years in office.

The Republicans Never Spent Like This
The last budget adopted by a Republican-controlled Congress provided for a deficit of $161 billion in fiscal 2007. President Obama's budget for this year provided for a deficit ten times as large at $1.6 trillion. That is why Rep. Jeb Hensarling (R-TX) accurately told Obama earlier this year, "The annual deficits under the Republicans became the monthly deficits under the Democrats."

Deregulation is not to Blame
Overregulation contributed to the crisis by bludgeoning banking institutions into making bad mortgage loans, granting monopoly powers to rating agencies that labeled ultimately toxic subprime mortgage securities as AAA investments, and then forcing financial institutions to write the value of those securities down to almost nothing under "mark to market" regulations.
I love this "green" zinger...
But the economics of President Obama's prosperity through "clean" energy plan is even more transparently nuts than the science. [...]  First, the government provides enormous subsidies, just more bailouts actually, for businesses to pursue inherently unreliable and unworkable "alternative" energy sources such as wind and solar, the energy that powered the Roman Empire.
All Energy Subsidies are not Created Equal
The U.S. Department of Energy reports that government energy subsidies amount to $0.25 per megawatt for oil and gas, $0.44 per megawatt for coal, $1.59 for nuclear, $23.37 for wind and $24.34 for solar. (Oil is actually not subsidized at all, but disfavored by punitive taxes.) And that was before President Obama's "investments" adding up to an additional $80 billion per year in federal "alternative energy" subsidies.
Ferrara closes by observing how President Obama disparages the pro-liberty idea of an "Ownership Society," and instead embraces government dependency for all.
We should not be surprised that a red diaper baby disparages ownership and property rights, a view central to socialist philosophy all the way back to Marx.

American Messiah

America Needs a Political Messiah

Barack Obama may command the oceans to recede and inspire unquestioning fanaticism in his disciples, but he is no messiah.

We need a real political messiah, whose zeal for the founding fathers' house consumes him.

We need a messiah who will make a whip of cords and drive the moneychangers from the US Capitol, which they have turned into a "den of robbers."

We need a messiah who will call the politicians what they are: A brood of vipers, hypocrites! who bind up laws to burden good citizens, while they exempt themselves.

These political pharisees strain out a gnat when circumscribing citizens' rights, but swallow the camel for personal and partisan political gain and the millions that it brings them.

Their cup is clean on the outside, but on the inside it is full of greed and self-indulgence.

Our government institutions are "beautiful on the outside but on the inside are full of dead men's bones and everything unclean." This leads We The People to view those in power with suspicion: "In the same way, on the outside you appear to people as righteous but on the inside you are full of hypocrisy and wickedness."

Yes, we need a messiah, but President Obama ain't it.

McChrystal Fired, Petraeus Demoted, Obama Diminished (Further)

Adversity does not build character, it reveals it

President Obama is living proof.  He is a petty, petulant man who has failed every test since becoming president.  So the child-caesar fired the general.  Good enough, but he had to drag him halfway around the world (where he was leading tens of thousands of America's finest) to publicly kick him when he was down.  Must've been a real ego builder.

Here is the true test of these two men
Stanley McChrystal, stripped of his command and military rank, will still be a battle-tested man of cast iron character and a rock-solid American hero.  Barack Obama, once he vacates the presidency, will be nothing but a self-absorbed man whose only accomplishments were fooling some of the people one time and winning an anticipatory Nobel Prize.

For the conspiratorial-minded, here are three thoughts...

General McChrystal did not really vote for Obama; they were just playing the Rolling Stone reporter.

The Rolling Stone reporter did this all on purpose to poison the military-press relationship.  Since 9/11, even liberal reporters have gained a grudging respect for our troops, often writing glowing reports about them while still criticizing the wars they fight.  That's over now.  No embed will ever be the same again, and that's how the liberals want it.

Obama demoted General Petraeus (the Afghanistan commander falls under CENTCOM) to take him out of the 2012 Presidential Campaign equation.

Barack Obama is No Harry Truman

General McChrystal voted for Obama? Holy crap!
WASHINGTON – The top U.S. commander in Afghanistan has been summoned to Washington to explain derogatory comments about President Barack Obama and his colleagues, administration officials said Tuesday. (Yahoo)
Obama gets his Truman-MacArthur moment*
I know his advisors think he needs it to increase his stature, but to those who know history, it diminishes him further. Harry Truman was no effete metrosexual unfamiliar with basic military terms.  He was a combat veteran of WW I, serving as an artillary Captain in France. But Obama is the president, as he so often reminds us.

McChrystal Earned It
He should have kept his mouth shut and his thoughts to himself. No military person should make those types of comments about civilian leadership and he knows that. Rolling Stone? What the hell was he thinking?

His comments sound arrogant, but they are borne of an arrogance produced by real-world success. Our US military is practically the only government institution that still knows how to get things done, and it has been getting a lot of things done over these past years.

It sometimes rankles and chafes to be overlorded by people in Gucci shoes, but that is how our system is set up and I wouldn't want it any other way. It is a classical separation of powers. Those who know how to prosecute war cannot authorize it, and those who authorize war do not know how to successfully carry one out.

General McChrystal Must Be Punished

Defending General McChrystal over this is defending the indefensible. I wish to hell he hadn't said what he said, but he did. Now he takes his lumps. If you love the constitution, you cannot protest the president firing the general.  Fat head liberal pissants like Joe Klein are already howling.

* Harry Truman's Military Background
The Obamatards at MSNBC and other Democratic party propaganda outlets will be blanketing the airwaves with Obama-Truman comparisons, so here is a little history lesson to nip this in the bud. Not only was Truman a great president, he was also a military veteran. Such comparisons insult the memory of this great man.

Truman enlisted in the Missouri Army National Guard in 1905, and served until 1911. At his physical in 1905, his eyesight had been an unacceptable 20/50 in the right eye and 20/40 in the left.[22] Reportedly, he passed by secretly memorizing the eye chart.[23]

Truman was chosen to be an officer, and then battery commander in an artillery regiment in France. His unit was Battery D, 129th Field Artillery, 60th Brigade, 35th Infantry Division, known for its discipline problems.[28]

During a sudden attack by the Germans in the Vosges Mountains, the battery started to disperse; Truman ordered them back into position using profanities that he had "learned while working on the Santa Fe railroad."[28] Shocked by the outburst, his men reassembled and followed him to safety. Under Captain Truman's command in France, the battery did not lose a single man.[28] H

On November 11, 1918 his artillery unit fired some of the last shots of World War I into German positions. The war was a transformative experience that brought out Truman's leadership qualities; he later rose to the rank of Colonel in the Army Reserves,[30] and his war record made possible his later political career in Missouri.[28] (Wikipedia)

As usual, Blackfive has the definitive take.  Go read it here.

Emanuel: Obama Golfing 'a big mistake'

White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel blames bad PR skills for the photographs over the weekend of US President Barack Obama at a Golf Course in Southern Maryland.

“Well, to quote Barack Obama, he's got to plug 18 holes, he would say,” Emanuel said in an interview aired Sunday on ABC’s “This Week.” “And I think we can all conclude that Barack Obama is not going to have a second career in PR consulting. This has just been part of a long line of PR gaffes and mistakes.”

Golfing is “a big mistake,” Emanuel said, on par (ha ha, get it?  On "par") with him claiming his daughter had wandered into his presidential bathroom one morning and impertinently asked, "have you plugged that damned hole yet daddy?"

But he said it’s the “substance” beyond the golf photo that matters.

“People will chew over this,” Emanuel said. “But don't take your eye off the major priorities and the key goals, that is dealing with the problem down on the 18th green, er...  I mean in the well, and dealing with the problems of the region as it makes as important the people getting the resources they need to restore their lives and restoring that coastline to it environmental purity that it had at one point.” (Politico)

An editorial apology
Oops!  I apologize.  My word processor accidentally substituted "Barack Obama" for "Tony Hayward," "President" for "BP Chief," and "Golfing" for "Yachting."  This is why reporterating should be left to the professional journalistic presstitutes...

Magna Cum Lousy

What Obama thinks of us, America
President Obama has revealed himself to be an abject failure

If he tried to lead an army of Larry Flynts to a pornography convention in Vegas they would end up at the Mormon Tabernacle in Salt Lake City (God forbid).

And what did any reasonable person expect?  The average Army corporal has more leadership experience than Obama.  The man had accomplished nothing...  zero, zip, naaaadaaa before getting elected.

Worshipful liberals keep pointing to his academic record, and that's a great thing to point to...  if you're a new grad looking for your first job.  If you're 47 years old and you're still pointing to your college record, it's actually a kinda sad commentary on your adult life.

An Obama Career Recap
He did nothing of note during his short tenure on Wall Street.  He supposedly forsook a lucrative career there to instead help the needy as a community organizer.  Yeah, and I forsook a career as a doctor to enlist in the Air Force.

I'm being sarcastic, but what evidence do we have that he was some kind of wiz kid there?  Maybe he stunk at his first job and community organizing was all that was left for him.  He never argued any court cases...  He was a lecturer, not a professor...  The Chicago Democrap Machine cleared the way to The Senate for him...  All he's really done is write two self-absorbed books.

There is no substitute for real-world experience, especially when you're leader of The United States of America in a very dangerous world.  I hope the voters see that now.

How bad is it?
It's so bad even lefty Obama-lama-ding-dongs David Corn, The New York Times, and Eugene Robinson can no longer avert their eyes.

It's so bad, even the MSNBC Obamatards trashed his oil spill performance

Breitbart has the best summary, Is the Thrill Gone?

The tingle up Chris Matthews' leg has left the building.  Maybe it was just the termites escaping Olbermann's head...

Democrats Accused of Stealing Communist Party Agenda

"They stole our entire platform, rebranded it 'progressive', and claimed it as their own," declared a CPUSA spokesperson at a press conference in San Francisco. "And we communists say, not so fast!

The Communist Party representative explained that government ownership of the auto and financial industries, redistribution of wealth, and free rationed healthcare have always been among the glorious CPUSA objectives: "We held on to these goals through all the difficult years of factional infighting, purges, denunciations, and heroic espionage on behalf of the Soviet intelligence services. (The People's Cube)

The Democratic Party responded by kicking off it's 2012 presidential campaign.  You decide...

Liberals Flunk Econ 101

There ain't no such thing as a free lunch.
-- Milton Friedman

The worldwide collapse of welfare states and government ponzi schemes prove Friedman's point.  A simple glance at Michigan or California should sway liberals off of their stubborn belief in free stuff for everybody, but it doesn't...

Our capitalist economy came crashing down as well.  No surprise.  Government-sanctioned cronyism fails everywhere it is tried.  It encourages corruption and distorts markets, chasing away honest money.  The upside is that capitalism, being a coherent and self-sustaining system, contains the seeds of its own renewal; liberal welfare states do not.

Life it tough, but it's tougher when you're stupid  -- John Wayne

Daniel B. Klein explains why liberals stubbornly wallow in such irrational beliefs.  They are economically ignorant:

According to a Zogby International survey that I write about in the May issue of Econ Journal Watch [...],  The left flunks Econ 101.
Liberals believe such fallacies as:

$ Rent control makes apartments more plentiful and restrictions on housing development make home buying more affordable (It's just the opposite.  Scarcity drives up prices.  My kids knew that in grade school.)

$ Our standard of living is lower than it was 30 years ago.  (why are liberals so eager to think ill of our country and our people?)

$ Minimum wage and other employment laws do not increase unemployment (Yes they do.  Look at France)

White House Rejects Friedman for Marx
The economic ignorance extends to the White House.  Senior White House communists like Valerie Jarrett can't understand why the oil companies won't just sit there and suck up a half-million dollars per rig per day cost during the six month moratorium.  They're going to haul their equipment somewhere else where they can make money!

These rigs cost about $500,000 a day for oil companies. [...] the oil companies are going to move them, while they have them under contract, to foreign leases they own in order to seek oil.

The American Petroleum Institute (API) estimates that the moratorium will cost us 130,000 barrels of oil a day by 2011 and up to 500,000 a day by 2013. And it could put up to 46,200 jobs at risk short-term and as many as 120,000 over the long term.

Cover the Incompetence with Lies
Even Senior White House Communist Carol Browner couldn't spin this one:  That panel of experts selected by the National Academy of Engineering DID NOT endorse the six month moratorium:

The seven experts who advised President Obama on how to deal with offshore drilling safety after the Deepwater Horizon explosion are accusing his administration of misrepresenting their views to make it appear that they supported a six-month drilling moratorium -- something they actually oppose.
Elect a klatch of leftist pseudo-intellectuals and this is what you get...

Barack BS Bingo

If you're like me, you can't stand to hear President Obama speak and you avoid his orations like the plague that they are.  Well, here's a great way to enjoy the experience:

Play Barack BS Bingo!  (See rules below)

Rules for Barack BS Bingo:
1. Before President Obama's next televised speech, print your "Bullshit Bingo" card
2. Check off the appropriate block when you hear one of those words/phrases.
3. When you get five blocks horizontally, vertically, or diagonally, stand up and shout "BULLSHIT!"

And folks, I must warn you now.  Some of my redneck buddies tried to turn this into a drinking game during the last press conference.  Ol' Bubba ended up drinking so much Jack Daniels that he lit himself on fire while trying to smoke a cigarette.   You could die of alcohol poisoning, so just stick to the bingo.  ;)

Dreams of Obama: We're Just Another Country

Screw You, America!
We are no longer respected in the world.  You can argue that it's Bush's fault, but Obama has done nothing to improve our standing.

Anyone who's lived in a dangerous area knows how people react to the weak and the naive.  The cowardly run away to the bullies' side (some daring to take a jab before running), and the bullies draw their knives and smile.

If Obama had actually ever lived in a bad part of town like his fake biography claims, he would know this.  Maybe he's just ignorant or doesn't understand basic human nature...

Charles Krauthammer studiously catalogs Obama's global bowing and scraping and apologizing.  He then shines a light on the logical consequences.  His focus is on Turkey and Brazil sticking a thumb in our eye by providing Iran cover to make nuclear weapons, but the article is a great laundry list of Obama's foreign policy blunders:
This is not just an America in decline. This is an America in retreat -- accepting, ratifying and declaring its decline, and inviting rising powers to fill the vacuum.

Given Obama's policies and principles, Turkey and Brazil are acting rationally. Why not give cover to Ahmadinejad and his nuclear ambitions? As the United States retreats in the face of Iran, China, Russia and Venezuela, why not hedge your bets?
Pray for America
We have at least two and a half more years of this.  If you're a praying person, hit your knees and pray for our country.  This man is an incompetent boob.  Some say he knows exactly what he is doing, but I don't want to even contemplate that.

Arizona Governor Jan Brewer is My New Hero

Smart-Ass in Chief
Barack Obama is the rudest, most sarcastic president in this country's history.  He routinely calls out fellow Americans for ridicule and opprobrium, all for narrow partisan purposes.  They used to criticize George Bush for that, but at least he was calling out foreigners...

Governor Jan Brewer is jamming it right back in his smirking, smart-ass punk face.  Good for her.  This is how you fight the Progressive Chicago Syndicate, America.

This is How to Defeat the Progressive Scourge

Regardless of what you think of the Arizona law, at least Governor Brewer and the state legislature took action, while this and previous administrations sat on their hands.

We keep hearing talk of a superhighway from Mexico to the US.  Well, we have one and it's called Arizona.  Only it's a conduit for drug smuggling and human trafficking, not cheap lawn chairs headed for Wal Mart.

All this callow metrosexual can think to do is to marginalize Arizonans by ridicule.  All he's really done is demean the office of the presidency.

Liberalism: Your Brain on Drugs

MSNBC, and most of the liberal press is the equivalent of a drug-addled crack head.  They are so disappointed the Times Square bomber wasn't an angry, white, rightwing teabagger:
"There was part of me that was hoping this was not going to be anybody with ties to any kind of Islamic country..." (BreitbartTV)
Try reporting from Saudi Arabia dressed like that, cupcake.

This woman is stupid. Or she's on drugs. I can find no other plausible solution for such idiotic statements.  And yes, I called her a cupcake.  She's a twinkie; sickly sweet cream filling on the inside and a brain pan full of sponge cake, mostly air, fluffy and completely superfluous.

Questions, the Anti-Drug

Why can't Big Government stop an oil spill?
Why Can't Big Government stop terrorists from entering our country, even with the aid of a no fly list?

More importantly, why is Big Government NATURALIZING TERRORISTS?

Sahibi Wazoozi or whatthehellever his name is was A US CITIZEN!!! (I refuse to call him an American)  If that doesn't make you sick to your stomach there's no help for you.

If we had a real press, one that doesn't laugh at the president's comedy routine while an environmental disaster is in progress, they would ask these questions.  Instead, we have the US version of Pravda.

At least Pravda, to their credit, openly admitted they were owned by the regime...

Reality Spill

Another Disaster, Another Chance for Some Liberal Scolding!

The libs are walking tall again. Nothing like a horrible disaster to pick up ones spirits!  Now they can sanctimoniously and endlessly caw "See!  We told you so!"

"Oil is bad!" (as they get into their automobiles)

"Greedy Republicans killed the coal miners!" (As they flip on the light switch)

They rightly shout about the working poor's inability to make a "living wage," but fail to see how illegal immigration takes jobs and drives down wages.

It's a comfy, insular world of fantasy over in left Blogistan, which probably explains their anger at the incursions of truth-bearing conservatives and libertarians.  We are not delusional.  We know our politicians and our businesses are flawed and untrustworthy.  It's human nature.

Particularly delicious is when their fantasy bubble is popped not by some ranting racist hater like Rush Limbaugh, but by their own New York Times, liberal toilet paper of record.

Obama acted too slowly and didn't do his regulatory job.
The federal government also had opportunities to move more quickly, but did not do so while it waited for a resolution to the spreading spill from BP
Some oil industry critics questioned whether the federal government is too reliant on oil companies to manage the response to major spills, leaving the government unable to evaluate if the response is robust enough.
Liberal Response?  Blame Bush and Cheney, Of Course!
The Bu$hitler-Cheney-Halliburton regime has been out of power for over a year and a half now.  How long does it take for an enlightened administration to wipe out those plutocratic, oil-spill loving rules and replace them with kind, gentle, liberal rules that prevent this kind of thing?

The Senile Old Lady also highlights some Unanswered Questions:
The timetable is damning. The blowout occurred on April 20. In short order, fire broke out on the rig, taking 11 lives, the rig collapsed and oil began leaking at a rate of 40,000 gallons a day.

BP tried but failed to plug the well. Even so, BP appears to have remained confident that it could handle the situation with private resources (as did the administration) until Wednesday night, when, at a hastily called news conference, the Coast Guard quintupled its estimate of the leak to 5,000 barrels, or more than 200,000 gallons a day.
Only then did the administration move into high gear.

Obama's Big Government Speech

President Barack Obama is no constitutional scholar

He has written no books or papers on the subject and has done no research. He lectured at a College in Chicago for a few years, and now he lectures all of us. Anyone who pays attention to this man's preachable moments will find herself dumber as a result.
President Barack Obama took aim Saturday at the angry rhetoric of those who denigrate government as "inherently bad" and said their off-base line of attack ignores the fact that in a democracy, "government is us."
WRONG! We are a Republic, not a mob-rules, everybody belongs to the state social democracy. The government is definitely not "us!" The government is a body established by the people via a constitution to manage certain public functions. The progressives have hijacked that simple concept and stretched it all out of shape. Progressive President Barack Obama is a product of their 100 year Long March.
Obama used his commencement speech at the University of Michigan to respond to foes who portray government as oppressive and tyrannical - and to warn that overheated language can signal extremists that "perhaps violence is ... justifiable."
The Road to Tyranny is Paved with Good Intentions
If extremists are out there who think that "perhaps violence is justifiable," then the government is justified in taking a "strong hand" to "protect the people," right? See where this leads?

Calling tea partiers dangerous and racist is the pretext to shutting them down, or at least placing them beyond the pale of civil society. That is the agenda, paint them all (half the country!) as fringe kooks.  Their crazy, dangerous ideas about some archaic document are just not worth listening to.
"But what troubles me is when I hear people say that all of government is inherently bad," said Obama...
Who the hell says that? Other than a flock of Hooteries in a house trailer? This is a classic straw man argument.

Freddie's Fat Fannie Crushed The Economy

The speech goes downhill from there as he uses public roads and our military to justify big government (why didn't he bring up health care?), while ignoring the bureaucratic blubber that clogs our nation's arteries.

He then rolls out that ridiculous liberal idea that "too little government" caused the financial meltdown, when Freddie's fat Fannie was plopped right down in the middle of it all. Just ask Democrats Barny Frank and Chris Dodd, who received hundreds of thousands from the big bankers...

Party of The State vs. Party of The People

Folks, big government is all they got. Everything they offer requires them to dip into our pockets so they can provide it.  Big Government is the clanking, crushing, belching machine the progressives have hijacked to ram their horrible, collectivist, anti-American ideology down our throats (or up some other orifice.)

If big government is discredited (and it already is in the minds of many), the progressive movement, and the craven Democratic party, is through. They have no other means to reshape society in their own twisted image.

We have the founders, and their small government, personal responsibility agenda.  We have a vision, a vision of basic human liberties as espoused by the founders.  These freedoms cost nothing, and allow everyone to be free to succeed or fail on their own merits.  Government facilitates that by safeguarding our liberties and protecting our nation, and yes, smacking big corporations when they break the law.

We Have the Advantage
Having the authors of the constitution on our side is a great advantage.  Here's another: The flaming red fact that we are broke. And the Big Progressive Machine grinds to a halt without money.  Freedom and liberty cost nothing, and America has proven time and again that a free people in a free market generate wealth and drive an economy that produces real jobs so people don't have to go begging to Big Daddy Government.

Obama Lies, Freedom Dies

WASHINGTON -- Regulatory overhaul legislation working its way through Congress will end taxpayer-funded bailouts "once and for all," President Barack Obama said Saturday.(WSJ)
The problem?  Nobody with a brain believes him.  Oh, don't take my word for it!  Let's see what National Public Radio has to say:
We at Planet Money did an informal survey of economists and regulatory experts on the left and the right. We couldn't find any who fully endorse the reforms backed by President Obama and Democrats in Congress.
Everyone thinks the reforms just aren't enough to solve the problem.Take, for example, "too big to fail" -- the idea that if one of the largest banks in the country gets into trouble, the government will save it with taxpayer money.
"A vote for reform is a vote to put a stop to taxpayer-funded bailouts," Obama said in his speech in New York on ThursdayI cannot find any experts -- of any party -- who are willing to agree with Obama on this one.
Will at least one reporter in this country besides Jake Tapper get up off his knees long enough to ask Minister of Propaganda Gibbs this question:

If this ends bailouts, why is there a clause in the bill authorizing up to $4 Trillion in "secured loans," and why is congress not striking existing language in 12 U.S.C. 343 that authorizes the Federal Reserve to hand out taxpayer money to foundering businesses that are favored by the US Government? (BigGov - Obama's Backdoor Bailout)

Reform that doesn't take 1,300 pages of congressionally-produced bureaucratic BS
John Steele Gordon sees this for what it is:  More Crony Capitalism.  He touts the solution of Niall Ferguson and  Ted Forstmann:
(In a nutshell: moving derivatives trading from back rooms to exchanges and limiting the leverage that banks can use.)

The Senate bill wouldn’t do that. Instead it would move most derivatives trading to exchanges but allow the chairman of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission to decide what derivatives can still be traded over the counter. Does anyone see there a hugely empowered federal official (not to mention a golden lobbying opportunity for banks and members of Congress alike)? Is a back room at the CFTC an improvement over a back room at Goldman Sachs?

You want real reform?  Let 'Em Fail!
The trouble with Wall Street isn't that too many bankers get rich in the booms. The trouble, rather, is that too few get poor -- really, suitably poor -- in the busts. To the titans of finance go the upside. To we, the people, nowadays, goes the downside. How much better it would be if the bankers took the losses just as they do the profits.

Happily, there's a ready-made and time-tested solution. Let the senior financiers keep their salaries and bonuses, and let them do with their banks what they will. If, however, their bank fails, let the bankers themselves fail. Let the value of their houses, cars, yachts, paintings, etc. be assigned to the firm's creditors. (WaPo - James Grant)
Personal Profits, Socialized Losses
No surprise, then, the perversity of Wall Street's incentives. For rolling the dice, the payoff is potentially immense. For failure, the personal cost -- while regrettable -- is manageable.
End the perverse incentive to gamble (Heads I win, tails the taxpayer loses), and the gambling will end.  The prospect of having to eat their immense losses will restore some needed sanity to the market.

Personal responsibility.  What a concept.
