Dead and Paralyzed Criminals Commit Less Crimes

Thought Experiment:  If more criminals were shot in flagrante delicto, would there be more crime, or less crime?
The 31 states that have "shall issue" laws allowing private citizens to carry concealed weapons have, on average, a 24 percent lower violent crime rate, a 19 percent lower murder rate and a 39 percent lower robbery rate than states that forbid concealed weapons. In fact, the nine states with the lowest violent crime rates are all right-to-carry states. (CATO - Gun Control Myths)
Here's a headline from Chicago:

Elderly Woman Shoots 12-Year Old Hellion

Why? Because the little bastard was throwing bricks at her house. He had terrorized other neighbors, setting trash on fire, threatening old people, and committing other acts of vandalism.  Best of all, even in the liberal la la land that brought us President Barack Obama, they are not prosecuting her.  I'm glad to see Chicago Democrats actually do something right for a change.

Meanwhile, out here in the west, wussified east coast style liberalism is killing us...

DA Disarms 82-Year-Old Man, Denver Area Breathes Collective Sigh of Relief
Wallace was originally charged with two counts of attempted first-degree murder in February after he fired a shot into a pickup that was carrying away his flatbed trailer from his Wheat Ridge home.

The gunshot hit Alvaro Cardona, 28, in the face, blinding him and causing a serious brain injury, Russell said.
Left unsaid is that the sanctuary city of Denver had caught and released these illegal alien criminals after each of their numerous felonies.  Senior citizen Robert Wallace does society a great and heroic service in paralyzing one of them, and this is what the nanny-state DA had to say:
"The lesson to be learned is that Colorado law does not authorize a citizen to use deadly physical force to protect property," Storey said.
That's just the message criminals want to hear.  Mr. Wallace, unarmed, is now at the mercy of retaliation from the predators' gang-banger cronies.  Way to go, DA Story!  You're a hero!  To the all the crooks and predators out there who depend on a compliant and passive populace.  You're moron of the first order.

Whatever you tolerate, you'll get more of.

I'm all for arming cantankerous old codgers, but I maintain that the common citizen cannot be trusted with a handgun and those should be reserved for law enforcement and military personnel.

Mind you, I'm not suggesting that we outlaw guns. But I am advocating that HANDGUNS should be banned. 3 times in as many months, children in our mid-sized city have brought handguns into public schools. Fortunately, there have been no discharges, but still...

I'm more fearful of the criminally-irresponsible lugnut next door (who carelessly leaves his handgun within reach of his children) than I am of criminals.

The very form factor of rifles would make it more difficult for kids to sneak off with or smuggle them into public places. And the more cumbersome form factor would make impromptu shootings less likely.

If you're going to arm your citizens, fine, but equip them something they can't miss with! Give 'em shotguns, not handguns!

Were I that old man I'd have a weapon, anyway. 'Eff them!

If more thugs and punks knew there was a very good chance they'd get shot for their misdeeds there might be fewer of them!

Rob,
I appreciate what your're saying, but you can't take everyone's rights away because of a few irresponsible people. Think about how much death and destruction is caused by cars every year.

Let's test your logic:
Kids light more fires than they do cause harm with guns. Why not make all matches the size of yardsticks?

Me being a centrist and all, I figger dead criminals don't talk about their rights.

Center them in the scope, or in the sights, and bang no more repeat offenders.

In my neighborhood, it would be very unwise not to have some form of weapon.

My husband is an avid hunter and needless to say, we are well-equipped should someone decide to break into our home or steal something off our property.

I would like to buy a sling-shot, though, I think that would be a lot of fun, too, right? Sorry, officer, I was just aiming at that the pine cone in my tree. Won't happen again. *wink*

Even the Bible says that murderers, rapists, etc., should be put to death, and "to do so will mean less crime in your land."
