Richard Daley, owner of Chicago and Crime Boss of the Corrupt Democrat Machine that spawned Barack Obama, has announced he won't let an inconsequential thing like the US Constitution stop him from keeping guns away from law-abiding citizens.
The Supreme Court has reaffirmed our God-given right to keep and bear arms, but Chicago progressives are readying a series of fiery bureaucratic hoops a free man must jump through in order to defend himself and his family with a firearm. I won't stink up this blog by listing them.
Steve Chapman had this to say about progressive mistrust of personal freedoms:
But really: Whose judgment about the value of guns to law-abiding citizens do you trust? Ordinary people defending their homes against criminals? Or a public official who is shepherded to work each day by police officers?Indeed. He goes on to point out that murders have soared since the gun ban's inception:
The reality that goes unpublicized by the mayor is that the weekend before the Supreme Court decision, at least 26 people in Chicago were shot, three fatally. The previous weekend, the victims numbered more than 50, with at least eight dying. This is why liberals can never be trusted to run things. The right of a person to defend herself is a fundamental unalienable right. Daley is either drunk with power or he is crazy.
Daley downplays the obvious fact that his ban hasn't spared the city from "the full scope of gun violence in America."
After all, the almost total prohibition passed back in 1982 didn't have the effects promised by supporters. It failed to eradicate handguns, of which the city has an estimated 100,000. Nor did the ban establish serenity in the streets. In the decade after it took effect, homicides soared.
Uncle Ted on Gun Control
And now for some constitutional sanity from the Motor City Madman (who wisely abandoned Detroit for Texas)...

This goes right along with my post "gotta make em stink"
I want to see more anger like this from the republicans. Why should the democrats be the only angry ones?
At least this is legitimate anger.
Gotta love Ted Nugent!! More rational thought came out of his mouth in this 3 minute clip than Nancy Pelosi has managed to stumble upon while floundering to think of something worthwhile to say for the past 20 years. We should throw Nancy out and elect Ted.

Excellent Linda!
Unreal isn't it SF, that little Barney Rubble troll needs a smackdown yet he's like a life appointed king here thanks to all the minorities and illegal 'voters' who outnumber the decent tax paying citizens in the city.
Call it Dump USA.I feel sad for the people who can't escape the jungle there because that's what it is.
Ted Nugent nailed it when he said, "Don't tread on me!" and the best one of all "I don't like repeat offenders, I LIKE dead offenders!" Can't argue with that logic, he's got my vote!
We have the right to bear arms and no one has the right to take that away from us.
I HAVE the right to protect my family at all costs! Nuff said.
Head west, Ray! Escape the failed liberal house of cards before it collapses on you.
It's odd how neither you nor Nugent address even one argument against your position.
Is it your good given right to ignore rationality?
The progressives want gun control for one reason. They know that the people will not except their end goal. You can not follow the Constitution and Marx.
CP: Dictator Daily has banned guns since 1982. Gun violence has gone up. Obviously, the ban doesn't stop violence.
Restricting the rights of law-abiding citizens doesn't address criminality.
Lastly, gun ownership and self-protection is a natural right that no man may take away.
If the progressive dictators don't like how the constitution is written they can go through the legal process of trying to amend it.
The reason gun control isn't working is b/c there has been none for so long.
I actually almost agree with you on some of your points - obviously, not on the ridiculous point that owning a gun is a natural right - but too many Americans have too many guns.
It's like illegal immigration. The blood is in the water. You can't deport that many people and you can't get that many guns off the streets.
If only America could start off with a clean slate. Oh yah, come to Canada! We don't have any of these problems.
>murders have soared since the gun ban's inception
What? Are you trying to say that being defenseless and vulnerable doesn't make you safer? Do you mean that those "Weapon-free Zone" stickers on all the doors on campus don't protect me from bad guys? I'm so disillusioned...
No, I admit it wouldn't work in America.
Gun crime rates in Canada are minuscule compared to the US. It's too late for you guys though. As I said, the blood is already in the water.
