It's America and it was the 5th of May

1. It's not Mexican Independence Day (which is 16 September).

2. Cinco de Mayo is a holiday celebrated only in the Mexican state of Puebla and is not a national holiday in Mexico.

3. Cinco de Mayo celebrations started in America (California) in resistance to the French occupation of Mexico.

4. This is America.

5. The flag on top is our flag (If you're in Mexico feel free to reverse the placement).

6. If you are in America, you can display this flag any time you want, despite what some jackass high school assistant principal says.

Live Oak High School threatens to suspend 5 students for wearing the American flag, while hundreds sport the Mexican flag.

I think I can speak on behalf of Western Hero when I say we salute:
Dominic Maciel, Matthew Dariano, Clayton Howard, Daniel Galli, and Austin Carvalho

Way to go boys!!!

I might also point out that the first three are of American-Mexican heritage.

Personally, I would like to say that assistant principal Miguel Rodriguez can go pound sand, his lame excuse that wearing the flag put the five American boys in danger would seriously call into question his ability to properly supervise his school. If wearing the flag put the boys in danger, it is not the boys fault and he really needs to do something about the Mexican racists in his school.

I also look forward to his resignation, so that in abject shame he can go back to school and make up the class on American history and constitutional law that he obviously miserably failed.

Your Papers, Please!

The demagogic criticism that the Arizona law requires all Hispanics to produce their "papers" is ridiculous.  Of course, the Demagogocrats use the term "Papers" because it conjures visions of nazi Germany.  How clever.

Which looks more like fascism to you?
I also find it rich how this party accuses others of old world fascism while dictating everyone's health care by taking over one-sixth of the economy, appropriating automobile manufacturing firms, and forming a government-corporate mutual-benefit society with Wall Street investment bankers.

Have any of these hysterical people ever tried to rent an XBox game at Blockbuster?
They demand papers!  Including drivers license and a credit card, which they immediately tag as a warning to you to remember to return the game.  Granted, it lacks the gravity of being stopped by the Gestapo at the Swiss border with fake identity, but this is the state of things in America today.

It starts when you are born

... and your parents submit your hospital birth papers to the county so they can generate your official birth papers called a birth certificate.

You then take that and go get your New World Order card and 666 stamp, also known as a Social Security Card with your unique Social Security Number printed on it.

If you want to travel outside of the country, you've got to use those previously mentioned papers to get "Travel Papers," also known as a passport...

When you get hired you must present a birth certificate or passport so they know who you are, and so Uncle Sam can immediately stick the withholding siphon in.

Johah Goldberg puts it all in perspective:

I agree that there's something ugly about the police, even local police, asking citizens for their "papers" (there's nothing particularly ugly about asking illegal immigrants for their papers, though).
There's also something ugly about American citizens being physically searched at airports. There's something ugly about IRS agents prying into nearly all of your personal financial transactions or, thanks to the passage of ObamaCare, serving as health insurance enforcers.
Worried about government collecting your personal data?  Ever heard of the IRS or the Social Security Administration?  And by the way, Google and corporate America make the federal government's efforts look amateurish in comparison.

NUFF SAID?

"I'm now putting together legislation [so that] any individual American citizen who is found to be involved in a foreign terrorist organization, as defined by the Department of State, would be deprived of their citizenship rights," Lieberman said. (ID-Conn)

Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz) agreed with Lieberman: "Americans should lose their citizenship rights "if they're designated an enemy combatant"

"If someone acts like a terrorist and cooperates with people intent on war against the United States, they should be treated as terrorists and not as a common criminal. And no, they should not be read their Miranda rights," said Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas).

"If this individual has information that could help us prevent future attacks and loss of life, nothing should stand in the way of that, including Miranda rights," -Marco Rubio (R)

McCarthyism Alive and Well in Congress.. are you now or have you ever been affiliated with a terrorist organization?

The idea of granting unelected members of the State Department the power to strip an American of their citizenship would be absurdly funny if they weren't serious.

Liberalism: Your Brain on Drugs

MSNBC, and most of the liberal press is the equivalent of a drug-addled crack head.  They are so disappointed the Times Square bomber wasn't an angry, white, rightwing teabagger:
"There was part of me that was hoping this was not going to be anybody with ties to any kind of Islamic country..." (BreitbartTV)
Try reporting from Saudi Arabia dressed like that, cupcake.

This woman is stupid. Or she's on drugs. I can find no other plausible solution for such idiotic statements.  And yes, I called her a cupcake.  She's a twinkie; sickly sweet cream filling on the inside and a brain pan full of sponge cake, mostly air, fluffy and completely superfluous.

Questions, the Anti-Drug

Why can't Big Government stop an oil spill?
Why Can't Big Government stop terrorists from entering our country, even with the aid of a no fly list?

More importantly, why is Big Government NATURALIZING TERRORISTS?

Sahibi Wazoozi or whatthehellever his name is was A US CITIZEN!!! (I refuse to call him an American)  If that doesn't make you sick to your stomach there's no help for you.

If we had a real press, one that doesn't laugh at the president's comedy routine while an environmental disaster is in progress, they would ask these questions.  Instead, we have the US version of Pravda.

At least Pravda, to their credit, openly admitted they were owned by the regime...

Halliburton Caused the Oil Spill!

The charge has been emanating from Left Blogistan for days now, and I just chalked it up to the usual leftwing wackadoo kookery.

Well, as Papa Silverfiddle would say, even an old blind mare finds an apple every once in awhile...

From The Wall Street Journal:

An oil-drilling procedure called cementing is coming under scrutiny as a possible cause of the explosion on the Deepwater Horizon rig in the Gulf of Mexico that has led to one of the biggest oil spills in U.S. history, drilling experts said Thursday.

The scrutiny on cementing will focus attention on Halliburton Co., the oilfield-services firm that was handling the cementing process on the rig, which burned and sank last week. The disaster, which killed 11, has left a gusher of oil streaming into the Gulf from a mile under the surface.
The WSJ left unconfirmed the lefty nutbag claims that Dick Cheney himself ordered the sabotage, or even performed the deed himself by diving miles below the the ocean's surface in his top secret undisclosed submarine that also doubles as a jihadi torture chamber...

Render unto Caesar...

IRC 501 (c) (3): In general, no organization, including a church, may qualify for IRC section 501 (c) (3) status if a substantial part of its activities is attempting to influence legislation (commonly known as lobbying).

Cardinal Roger M. Mahony, Archbishop of Los Angeles, will be a leader of Saturday's (5/1/10)march in downtown Los Angeles, where tens of thousands of people are expected to protest Arizona's new immigration law.

Legislation includes action by Congress, any state legislature, any local council, or similar governing body, with respect to acts, bills, resolutions, or similar items (such as legislative confirmation or appointive offices), or by the public in a referendum, ballot initiative, constitutional amendment, or similar procedure.

On Thursday, the archdiocese started a website, Faces of Immigrants, based on a concept by Cardinal Mahony that "personal stories from immigrants will give a face, or faces, to immigration and show people the effect our broken immigration system has on their lives."

A Church or religious organization will be regarded as attempting to influence legislation if it contacts, or urges the public to contact, members or employees of a legislative body for the purpose of proposing, supporting, or opposing legislation, or if the organization advocates the adoption or rejection of legislation.

Displayed prominently on the Faces of Immigrants website is the link to the US Conference of Catholic Bishops Justice for Immigrants website urging us to send a JFI postcard to Congress accompanied by the quote "every man and woman may be regarded as brothers and sisters, children of the same Father" - Pope Benedict XVI.

Under the substantial part test, a church or religious organization that conducts excessive lobbying activity in any taxable year may lose its tax-exempt status resulting in all of its income being subject to tax. In addition, a religious organization is subject to an excise tax equal to five percent of its lobbying expenditures for the year in which it ceases to qualify for exemption. Further a tax equal to five percent of the lobbying expenditures for the year may be imposed against organization managers, jointly and severally, who agree to the making of such expenditures knowing that the expenditures would likely result in the loss of tax-exempt status.

Previously Cardinal Roger Mahony electrified the US immigration reform debate by announcing on March 1, 2006 (Ash Wednesday), that he would instruct archdiocesan priests and lay Catholics to ignore provisions in a House-passed "enforcement only" bill (H.R. 4437) - were they to pass - that would make it a crime to assist unauthorized immigrants.

In an April 18th post on his blog, Cardinal Mahony describes the bill passed by the Arizona Legislature as "the countries most retrogressive, mean-spirited, and useless anti-immigrant law born of the assumption that immigrants come to our country to rob, plunder, and consume public resources." "I can't imagine," the cardinal wrote, "Arizonans now reverting to German Nazi and Russian Communist techniques whereby people are required to turn one another in to the authorities on any suspicion of documentation."

Bishop John C. Wester, Bishop of Salt Lake City, Chairman, US Conference of Catholic Bishops Committee on Migration: "Specifically, we have emphasised the need for a pathway to citizenship (read amnesty - Finntann) for the 11-12 million undocumented in the country.

When I was a member of the US military, I was free to exercise my constitutional rights in regards to participation in the US political process. There was one caveat however, I could not participate in the process in uniform or utilize my rank. Identifying myself as a member of the United States Air Force was forbidden, lest the public perceive my political activities as an official endorsement of a particular candidate, issue, or party.

In my opinion... these activities constitute participation in the US political process in an attempt to influence legislation , not by Roger Mahony, or John Wester, but by the Catholic Church.

Reality Spill

Another Disaster, Another Chance for Some Liberal Scolding!

The libs are walking tall again. Nothing like a horrible disaster to pick up ones spirits!  Now they can sanctimoniously and endlessly caw "See!  We told you so!"

"Oil is bad!" (as they get into their automobiles)

"Greedy Republicans killed the coal miners!" (As they flip on the light switch)

They rightly shout about the working poor's inability to make a "living wage," but fail to see how illegal immigration takes jobs and drives down wages.

It's a comfy, insular world of fantasy over in left Blogistan, which probably explains their anger at the incursions of truth-bearing conservatives and libertarians.  We are not delusional.  We know our politicians and our businesses are flawed and untrustworthy.  It's human nature.

Particularly delicious is when their fantasy bubble is popped not by some ranting racist hater like Rush Limbaugh, but by their own New York Times, liberal toilet paper of record.

Obama acted too slowly and didn't do his regulatory job.
The federal government also had opportunities to move more quickly, but did not do so while it waited for a resolution to the spreading spill from BP
Some oil industry critics questioned whether the federal government is too reliant on oil companies to manage the response to major spills, leaving the government unable to evaluate if the response is robust enough.
Liberal Response?  Blame Bush and Cheney, Of Course!
The Bu$hitler-Cheney-Halliburton regime has been out of power for over a year and a half now.  How long does it take for an enlightened administration to wipe out those plutocratic, oil-spill loving rules and replace them with kind, gentle, liberal rules that prevent this kind of thing?

The Senile Old Lady also highlights some Unanswered Questions:
The timetable is damning. The blowout occurred on April 20. In short order, fire broke out on the rig, taking 11 lives, the rig collapsed and oil began leaking at a rate of 40,000 gallons a day.

BP tried but failed to plug the well. Even so, BP appears to have remained confident that it could handle the situation with private resources (as did the administration) until Wednesday night, when, at a hastily called news conference, the Coast Guard quintupled its estimate of the leak to 5,000 barrels, or more than 200,000 gallons a day.
Only then did the administration move into high gear.
Another president, another disaster visited upon New Orleans...
