Liberals Can’t Handle the Truth

Liberals have a reality problem. They just can’t face it.

According to liberals, we're not broke, unions and government create jobs, the schools are just fine and we need to keep giving them more money, big government is great and we need more of it...  It's a catalog of lunacy.  No wonder moderates and independents last November ran screaming from the nuthouse known as the democratic party.

And the dems just don't get it.  They lost Keith Olberman's Countdown, but they now eagerly tune in each night for red-faced ranter Ed Schultz's Nightly Meltdown.

The latest spycam video showed progressive flagship NPR’s true colors, which all already knew anyway. It is a white, east coast, metrosexual effete, snobbish organization. They are anti-Jewish and anti-black. Just ask Juan Williams about the condescending treatment he received from them.

It's not about women, minorities and the oppressed--It's about advancing the statist agenda

Liberals are for women, just not conservative or religious ones like Sarah Palin, or threatened ones like Molly Norris, who is in hiding because 7th century islamists threatened to cut her head off over cartoons. They are for women standing up to powerful oppressors, unless those women live in the Muslim world. Then its ok that they’re oppressed. Liberals stand against sexual harassment and powerful men using their position to gain sexual favors, unless the man is a democrat president, then it’s ok.

Liberals are for blacks and gays, unless they are conservative or decide they want to attend a tea party rally.

You see, it’s not about blacks, or gays or women, it’s about advancing a statist progressive agenda. Minorities, the oppressed and the downtrodden are just extras, props cynically used to advance the agenda.

We want a do over!

Wisconsin is the latest theater of the absurd, where hysterical liberals display their inability to accept reality. The people voted, democrats lost, so they cried and scampered off to Illinois like the cowering cowards they are. Like petulant children refusing to take a bath, they stamped their feet and stuck out their tongues at the electorate.

Now, they are gearing up recall elections, crying “We want a do over!” They cannot accept reality, so they now seek to change it. Good luck with that, although their approach of siding with money-gobbling, capitol-wrecking unions, and standing against the taxpaying voter is a novel approach. More of that reality problem I guess...

I had Monday morning off and I wandered back into Left Blogistan.  I couldn't help myself...  Kinda like driving by an old girlfriend's house...

The mid-term elections must have hit the lefties hard; they're cannibalizing themselves over there.


I stumbled upon a thread that illustrates why sensible people don't discuss race. The thread is also a beautiful microcosm of liberalism itself.

A blogger named Sheria wrote a piece about how she's tired of the left beating up on President Obama.  She larded her sermon with standard liberal pieties and pontifications, and topped it off with spicy dashes of racial identity politics:

See, as a black person I'm so sick and tired of white liberals who have still enjoyed the privilege of being white trying to tell a black man how to navigate in a white world.

The ensuing thread is bursting with fetishistic adoration of the author, and everyone congratulating each other on the profundity of their comments...

Wow - this is why I'm such a fan of yours.

I love how you make me stop and think.

the president might be black but the captains of industry are white and they call the shots.

When Sheria speaks, I listen. She challenges me, not just to think, but also to feel. Intellectual knowledge is not enough until you feel it in your bones.

Oooooh!  At that point, TAO, a white man, should have retreated, tail between his legs, because in the liberal milieu populated with wise Latinas, a female minority is always morally superior.  Heedless, MAO charged back with further info to clarify his point.  He did his best to be conciliatory, but he refused to kneel before the altar of racial politics, so the author shut down the conversation:

This preachy blogger goes out into a public forum, charges racism (or at the least white cluelessness and unworthiness to speak on the issue), plays the victim card, and then casts opprobrium on someone for not responding correctly.  He's escaped the dialectical mumbo-jumbo framework and is speaking logically, so he must be shut down.  That is liberalism in a nutshell.

This is why white "cowards" do not want to discuss race.

Nothing pisses me off more than in discussions about race, non-black folks always want to suggest that racism isn't really the issue.

She starts by referring to President Obama as a black man, then ends up decrying the "one drop rule," and stating that Obama is "no more black than he is white." See? She owns the issue. The rest of us are there as a privilege she grants to us, as long as we sit in the corner, mouth politically-correct platitudes and otherwise behave ourselves. This is not conversation; it is lecturing.

This is not a "black" thing. It is a "liberal" thing. They want a dialog but then obsessively control it by alternately stroking and praising, and baiting and shaming.  When attacked, they hide behind victimhood narratives.

No More All-White Presidential Tickets

Identity Politics elevates gender, color and culture above competence.  It is an insult to all Americans, especially minorities


Politico ran a perfunctory post-election puff piece on the new stars of the GOP.  Susana Martinez, Marco Rubio, John Kasich (who's really an old star reborn).  Pretty standard stuff, and I was pleasantly surprised to see Politico saying anything positive about conservatives.  I'm also glad to see the GOP getting props for fielding some awesome minority candidates.  Then I saw a quote I just could not believe...

  This is what caught my eye:

“The bottom line is that after 2008, you can never go back to an all-white ticket,” said Susan MacManus, political science professor at the University of South Florida. (Politico)

This is so wrong on so many levels.  

First, it is white guilt paying obeisance to liberal political correctness.  No more all-white tickets because pointy-headed liberal social engineers say so?  What if they are two awesomely qualified white lesbians who are extremely liberal?  I bet they'd make an exception...  It amazes me that the most unthinking propaganda parrots can be found roosting in the ivory towers of academe.

Have you heard the one about the Muslim, the one-legged lesbian, and the Black Hispanic walking into the DNC Headquarters...

This is bald-faced tokenism, a rank condescension to "people of color."  To think that the only way you can get a group of people to vote for you is to run "one of them," is a horrid thought.  Break down our demographics into its hundreds of sub-groups, and you quickly see the absurdity of this.
  

Treating people as a collective interest group instead of as individuals is revolting.  All Blacks and all Hispanics are not liberal, and *gasp!*  they all don't think the same!  Worst of all is how liberals lump disparate groups together under the "minority" or "people of color" banner.  Their latest adventure in racial and cultural profiling has them treating Blacks and Hispanics as though they were cooking products sitting on a shelf at the supermarket in the "Ethnic Foods" aisle.

That is my conclusion, based upon the professor's logic.  Let's see how that flies...

This is what's wrong with liberalism, it has strayed so far from Dr, King's sincere message regarding content of character over color of skin. 

Ideological Idiocy

"Diversity" means whatever the left says it means, and minorities are only celebrated so long as they stay on the reservation

The whole Juan Williams controversy, and the illogical and hate-filled response from the left shows them to be in complete intellectual collapse.  There is no reasoning left on the left, just rage, outrage and raw emotion.  A dogmatic MSNBC mindset that anathematizes the impure who stray from the liberal orthodoxy.

It's an "us versus them" mentality.  Juan's cardinal sin was to treat conservatives as worthy of debate instead of just smearing them from a safe distance.  And he had the temerity to do it on the hated "Faux Nooz!"  For this same reason, liberal atheist Christopher Hitchens has more fans on the right than on the left, all because he cogently critiques militant Islam.

A Diversity of Thought
We enjoy a diversity of thought on the right; the left chokes with rage on it.  We may not agree with Juan Williams, Bob Beckel, Kirsten Powers or the other liberals who routinely appear on FOX news, but we enjoy the debate.  They add clarity to our thought, as fire hardens steel.  And we even learn something every now and then.  For this we will only grow stronger as our friends on the left suffer a rigor mortis of rationality.

We on the right are now much more about thought, debate and exploring new ideas.  We've dropped our knee-jerk support for big business and big wars.  We don't foam at the mouth in rabid anger like the left does, but we now criticize crony capitalism and Wall Street gamblers flush with our tax dollars.  We're also tiring of military adventures and we have awoken to the the dangers of our burgeoning domestic security apparatus. 

Ideology Kills
Blind allegiance to ideology kills rational thought, and that is what we're seeing on the left.  Daniel J. Flynn, in his most excellent book Intellectual Morons , explains:  

"ideology acts as a mental straitjacket. It blinds adherents to reality, breeds fanaticism, and rationalizes dishonesty. It makes smart people stupid."

Ideology can be a mental framework to make sense of what's going on around you, but Flynn sees it more as a crutch for those too lazy to think for themselves. Reading the opening chapter slowly and thoughtfully can provide a good intellectual self-examination.

The main idea behind Intellectual Morons is that ideology acts as a mental straitjacket. It blinds adherents to reality, breeds fanaticism, and rationalizes dishonesty. It makes smart people stupid.

It doesn’t matter how intelligent you are if you don’t use your brain. Intelligent people aren’t necessarily rigorous thinkers. In fact, many of them are mentally lazy. Ideology provides a way for lazy people to respond to issues, ideas, people, and events without thinking.

For the ideologue, ideology is the Rosetta Stone of everything. Why think when the system provides all the answers? Ideology is attractive to smart people because it flatters them by suggesting that a single idea from the mind of an intellectual has the power of explaining all of history or ordering the affairs of whole nations. "Intellectual Morons" is a storehouse of of ammo for those who enjoy arguing with liberals.  More importantly, it is a useful springboard to an intellectual self-examination.    It also explains why modern-day American liberalism is a rotting carcass.  They cling to their dogma and purge their ranks; we on the right invite thinking liberals to the debate.

The hooting baboons in Left Blogistan are having a field day, beating their bananas and slinging poop all over the candidacy of Christine O'Donnell


The most disturbing aspect of this is the open hostility to conservative Christianity. It's perfectly legitimate to debate moral issues and critically examine her record, but to personally attack and demean someone for her religious beliefs borders on depravity.




It's a Religious Thing, They Wouldn't Understand

Dennis Prager observes that every religion has aspects that look downright kooky to outsiders. Religious views on chastity and sexuality fall in that category, especially in today's sex-drenched, id-driven culture.

A few points in Christine O'Donnell's defense:

Her chastity campaign was conducted within the Christian community and was not directed at passing any laws.  It spilled out into the larger culture as a direct resonse to the stupid liberal "just give them condoms and birth control pills" approach.

Birth control pills do nothing to prevent sexually transmitted diseases and they have a list of side effects and potential health hazards a mile long. Condoms only prevent a small subset of STDs, provided they work properly.

Finally, sex is a big deal, especially for emotion-driven adolescents still trying to find their place in the world. I have seen adults go nuts over relationship problems, and it's worse for hormonal raging teens. They are simply not ready to deal with the baggage.

So abstenence is not the joke the laughing hyenas on the left make it out to be.

O'Donnell is also attacked for equating self-pleasure with adultery. Well, if you're playing with yourself instead of your spouse, and when pornography on a computer screen takes the place of a flesh and blood partner, there might be some dysfunction going on.

Again, I stress that this is a conservative Christian belief that no one is forced to comply with. No laws, no secret cameras, no mastubation police knocking on your door. This is advice that free Americans can follow or reject in the privacy of their own conscience.

Democrats -- The Whackjob Party

Newsweek Democratic propagandist Sharon Begly breathlessly attacks O'Donnell's advocacy of mastering one's domain, making comically absurd statements along the way. She starts by saying maybe we should just give Christine a pass and ignore it all...

... but no, this issue is so weighty, mankind hangs in the balance!

"But that would be a mistake: the stakes are simply too high, going all the way up the very survival of our species."

Terrorism, falling birth rates, dwindling natural resources... These issues pale in comparison to the towering issue of self-indulgence!  Here's her central, laughable thesis:

"Were O’Donnell’s unscientific views of the practice to spread, it would be a worrisome threat to family values."

Family values???  "OK Johnny, wash your face, brush your teeth, and don't forget to play with yourself before bed..."  And they are calling Christine O'Donnell kooky?

Unscientific?  I love it when progressives with liberal arts degrees invoke science.  They know nothing whatsoever of the scientific method, but they fetishize science and genuflect at the very word. They scream "science!" as a debate silencer, when real scientists will tell you it is a debate opener.  Science is an investigation tool, not a bullwhip for enforcing politically-correct dogma.

We're All Animals

Here's my favorite part:

Animals also eat their own excrement and sniff each others butts. I've seen dogs and cats flop down on their backs in front of God and everybody, spread their legs and vigorously lick their private parts, so I don't think animal behavior is a reliable standard for gauging human activity.

She also posits a theory of "Masturbation might remove old, worn-out, broken sperm from the reproductive tract." Regular sex with your wife will do the same thing, and if you are not married you have no need to worry about "broken sperm."   I guess Al Gore could have used this excuse instead of the "releasing my chakras" line...

Liberals are Afraid of Conservative Women

What is it with liberals and strong, beautiful women who bravely articulate their conservative Christianity?

Liberals tend more towards angry, man-hating hags who curse like sailors and have all the charm of a hungry badger.  Or women who look like men.  Gotta hand it to the liberals, they are not afraid of swapping gender roles.


So what are liberals afraid of?
Are they afraid of a sexy woman who doesn't leverage her God-given beauty for some sleazy purpose, but instead makes her sexuality the exclusive domain of her husband?  Do all liberals wish gang rape upon these women, as Sarah Bernhardt does?  There's a vulgar stream of liberal invective against conservative women, and it says much about the hatred that rots the soul of liberalism.

The Female Liberal Apotheosis
A different O'Donnell, Rosie, is the apotheosis of the liberal woman.  She's stubbornly ignorant (fire has never melted steel, Christians area bigger threat to America than muslims), angry, and her perpetual sour countenance does nothing for her looks.  She's the liberal female trifecta!

Liberals have brought us the dimmest dimbulbs to ever darken the Senate chamber in Patty Murray and Barbra (call me senator) Boxer.  Diane Feinstein is a smart, serious woman, but she's a war profiteer.

Rosie O'Donnell, Whoopie Goldberg, Margaret Cho and Sandra Burkhard were very funny comedians before galloping liberalism rotted their brains.

Me, I'm satisfied with my sexy, Christian wife, because I know she loves God more than me.  And I love how conservative women have been at the vanguard of the tea party movement.

As for liberalism, Michael Savage is right:  Liberalism is a mental disorder.

Obamanomic Uncertaintly Killing Jobs

Liberals are pointing at Republicans and screaming that they are stopping Obama’s economic recovery.  

This after they used the press as a giant bullhorn to continually badmouth the Bush economy until it finally did start sinking.  They don’t understand that unemployment benefits are not an economic stimulus...  but anyway, it’s a bog of economic ignorance and class warfare rhetoric too muddled to even try and sort out.




Here’s a Question for Sensible Americans...
If you don’t know what regulations will befall you in the near future, and your future earnings are in doubt, and you suspect taxes and fees will be raised, how will you react?   Will you blow your money, or will you stash it away?  

Simple decision, isn’t it?.  Well, businesses have reached the same conclusion:

The Bureau of Economic Analysis reports that U.S. corporations are sitting on $1.6 trillion in cash reserves, a record amount, because they are reluctant to expand in the uncertain policy environment.

It’s the Economic Uncertainty, Stupid!

He starts with the specter of ballooning debt at the state and municipal levels.  We know it’s there, we just don’t know how big it is yet, but we know it’s big.  Add to that...

There is also a lot of uncertainty about the extent of underfunded pension liabilities and the impact they will have because they do not typically show up on budgets.

Given the rhetoric and previous policy initiatives of the Obama administration, it is virtually certain that corporations and wealthy individuals are going to face higher taxes, but in what form?

Even the liberal NY Times gets it, although they stand the uncertainty argument on its head.  They perversely argue that now is the time to set up a program to funnel more money to states while passing cap and trade that will increase the cost of energy.  Get the pain over with so businesses can calculate the costs and press on with hiring and expansion plans.  At least they're half right...

Becoming Europe Won’t Help, Either
Even the liberal intelligentsia realize becoming Europe will only make things worse, reports Lloyd Grove at the Daily Beast:

He said jobs were going to be his No. 1 priority—there’s a huge disconnect between Washington and what’s going on out in the country,”

“The president’s economic team kept talking about a ‘cyclical’ problem. Larry Summers said jobs were a lagging economic indicator. All these things are simply wrong. The president put all his trust in the wrong economic team—an economic team that didn’t understand what was happening.”

That quote is not from a vengeful Rush Limbaugh, but from Obama supporter Ariana Huffington.  It’s the economy, stupid, and businesses, not government, fuel expansion by hiring people.  Even liberals are waking up to that fact.

Left Wing Hate and Anger

It's a collectivist fit of psychological projection:  The enraged, hateful left who sorts everyone by race and gender, is accusing conservatives of being hate-mongering racists.

Their rage has blinded them to reason.  Check this out from the Washington Post:

These authors are not journalists; they are propagandists shaping the debate for the progressive cause.  

This is an old trick:  Level a baseless charge, then force the accused to prove a negative.  How do you prove you're not a racist?  Goebbels would be proud of such demagoguery. The burden falls upon those leveling the accusations, as anyone following the Obama "birther" issue should be well aware of.

Drill Baby Drill! is Dead Baby Dead!

The oil spill off of Louisiana has killed any hope of "drill baby drill!"  And rightly so.  If we can't do this without causing an environmental catastrophe, we have no business doing it.

There should be a complete investigation and the guilty parties made to pay.  Nobody despoils America's beautiful shores and gets away with it.

We also should not discount the possibility eco-terrorism, although I've heard Eric Holder is busy chasing down leads concerning eye-witness reports of Bush and Cheney in a Batboat-type vessel being spotted in the area right before the calamity.

Rumor has it Federal Obama Cop Grung_e_Gene has abandoned his post at the airport porn scanner and is now on the scene.  He and his chorus of liberal screamers are claiming this is all Bush and the conservatives fault, since everyone knows liberals do not use any consumer goods derived from petroleum, like gasoline or vasoline...

They also never use electricity, so only conservatives have the blood on their hands of all the coal miners ever killed in the history of the United States.

Here in the real world, we use the cheapest, most efficient resources at hand.  Everything in life has consequences and costs.  Not using oil and coal would impose a gigantic, job-killing cost on our economy.  Unfortunately, Louisiana will bear the brunt of this one, and Uncle Sam better make sure BP picks up the complete tab.

Arizona Hysteria: "Reductio ad Hitlerum"

Cardinal Roger Mahony wrote in a blog post, "I can't imagine Arizonans now reverting to German Nazi and Russian Communist techniques."

The president of the Hispanic Federation said the law "reminded me of Nazi Germany."

Cooler heads merely compared it to apartheid or 1960s-era civil-rights abuses. (Rich Lowry - RCP)

Well, Arizona passed a law that said its state agencies could not ignore federal immigration law, the way the federal government does.

Attack of the Demagogicrats

The screamers on the left are predicting a brown roundup at The OK Corral, and Al Sharpton is promising to bring his brand of bullhorn buffoonery to the southwest.  A hitler behind every tree!

I recommend people actually read the law and find some trusted commentary on it before shooting off their mouths.  Rich Lowry attempts to apply a cold compress of common sense to the inflamed area: 

The Arizona law makes it a state crime for aliens not to have immigration documents on their person. This sounds draconian, except it's been a federal crime for more than half a century - U.S.C. 1304(e). Has the open-borders crowd forgotten that it calls illegal aliens "undocumented" for a reason?  Here's one part I haven't heard the hysterical hyenas huff about: 

A law enforcement official or agency of this state or a county, city, town or other political subdivision of this state may not solely consider race, color or national origin in implementing the requirements of this subsection except to the extent permitted by the United States or Arizona Constitution.


A person is presumed to not be an alien who is unlawfully present in the United States if the person provides to the law enforcement officer or agency any of the following:

1. A valid Arizona driver license.
2. A valid Arizona nonoperating identification license.
3. A valid tribal enrollment card or other form of tribal identification.
4. If the entity requires proof of legal presence in the United States before issuance, any valid United States federal, state or local government issued identification. 

Solution:  Repeal the Federal Immigration Statutes 

There's an easy way out of this, and the solution is well within the grasp of President Obama and his Democratic dominated house and senate:

Repeal the federal immigration law the Arizona laws was written to enforce.  Repeal it. And the whole issue goes away. 

If America is so damned up in arms in righteous anger over this law, the Democrats will win in a landslide this November, so do it, Demagogicrats!  Repeal it!

That would also remove the absurd situation of a government making a mockery of itself by refusing to enforce its own laws, with millions of ignorant citizens and undocumented protesters egging on this lunacy.

"What is a father to do if, in 90 days, they can be stopped by any police officer and questioned ... when their family is at home and their kids in school?" said Elias Bermudez, the founder of Phoenix nonprofit Immigrants Without Borders.  (Reuters)

How about gather up your family and go home, where you don't have to look over your shoulder for those white, angry, rightwing racists?  While you're there, you can fill out a paper at the US Consulate like my grandparents did and come in the front door as a law abiding citizen.

Crony Capitalism's Common Nightmares

Left and right both point to crony capitalism as a cancer upon our nation.  The left fails to see that it afflicts democrats just as badly as republicans.

Liberals love to launch incoherent farragoes at our American capitalist system.  A noxious admixture of watered-down marxism, disconnected statistics, and warmed over French Revolution propaganda, the most entertaining ones usually add in anti-Halliburton rants, Bush's blood for oil wars and Reagan's hatred of poor people.  Fortunately for our collective sanity, there are also smart people on the internet who effortlessly dismantle these angry diatribes.

The logic is terrible, with no cause and effect, and worse, no solutions beside making government bigger.  See an example towards the bottom of thread over a Sue's Place (She's a liberal happy warrior, and a rollicking good time can always be had over at her place). I tried in vain to show them this is a bipartisan problem.

Libs and Cons both Hate Crony Capitalism

But we still do not share a common definition.  We are currently at the stage where each camp can see it when their political opponents do it, but are blind to the same actions when their political heroes engage in it.

I think ordinary conservatives, especially tea partiers, are ahead of the curve, willing to admit that Bush and the Republicans are big offenders.  Republican politicians are still willfully half-blind, and nobody on the left besides Bernie Sanders gets it completely. 

Conservatives rightly fingered Texan T Boone Pickens' windmill scheme as a crony capitalist foray.  The left still can't understand how "Green Jobs" is a lefty version of the same affliction.

Crony Capitalism is a Bipartisan Affliction
Corrupt lawmakers pass special laws for their corrupt friends, using the power of the state to favor certain individuals over others.  Of course, the moneyed class thrives in such a "pay for play" environment, because the small business owner and the poor can't even buy a ticket to get in, let alone play.

Human Nature
The typical liberal author digs deep into the black hearts of those greedy captitalists, divining their nefarious motives.  Selfishness!  Greed!  Pure Greed!  And usually "hatred of the poor" thrown in for good measure. 

Well, if we can start prosecuting thought crimes based on a liberal version of morality...  But since that is dang near impossible, the next best thing is to take human nature into account when crafting laws.

The liberal answer is predictable: Bigger Government. We need that like we need more cowbell. Can't they see that bigger government just produces bigger crony capitalism?

Conservatives and libertarians point to the free market untrammeled by a government that favors well-connected businesses and industries.  Let them compete fairly, and let the failures be carved up by the winners.  The American workers, consumers and taxpayers will all be the beneficiaries.

A free market with a firewall between government and big business.  A free market, refereed by blind justice.  A free market, where the players suffer the direct consequences of their failure.  Complete transparency of markets and government. 

Pass more laws?  Hamilton and Madison dispatched that tired progressive bromide over 200 years ago:

Law is defined to be a rule of action; but how can that be a rule, which is little known, and less fixed?

Another effect of public instability is the unreasonable advantage it gives to the sagacious, the enterprising, and the moneyed few over the industrious and uniformed mass of the people.
